You MUST HAVE a Master’s Degree in Medicine (MD or equivalent)

As Medical Department Head at LEO Pharma you will oversee clinical development plans, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, regulatory standards, and effective resource management. The role will lead a team of Professional Medical Specialists and will represent clinical development in cross-functional, governance, and external scientific settings.

With direct report to Global Head of Clinical, Medical and Sciences, Erik Heegaard

Your main tasks include:

• Clinical Development Strategy: Design and lead clinical development plans aligned with corporate goals, regulations, and new clinical opportunities.
• Study Oversight & Execution: Oversee planning and conduct of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with GCP, ICH, and regulatory standards.
• Cross-Functional & Scientific Leadership: Act as medical lead in cross-functional teams, provide scientific guidance, review and interpret clinical data, and contribute to regulatory submissions.
• Team & Resource Management: Lead medical specialists, manage budgets and resources, and support recruitment, training, and staff development.
• Risk, Compliance & Quality: Identify risks, resolve operational/scientific issues, and ensure adherence to ethical, regulatory, and audit standards.

You have solid experience with at least 10 years of experience in a similar managerial role within a matrix organization, with deep knowledge of clinical research, drug development, and relevant therapeutic areas. This person must demonstrate strong project management skills, including handling multiple projects, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Success in this role requires excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.

Travelling: Minimal travel required
